Oppo Watch 3 Confirmed To Launch In August With Qualcomm’s New Snapdragon W5+ Chip Check Details

Handset maker Oppo is set to launch its next smartwatch, the Oppo Watch 3 with the newly-announced Qualcomm Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chipset for premium wearables. However, Oppo has not confirmed the launch details, but chip-making giant Qualcomm has confirmed that Ticwatch maker Mobvoi and Oppo would be the first two brands to launch smartwatches with the new chipset.

“The announcement of the latest Snapdragon W5 wearable platform will bring smart wearable technology to a new level,” Franco Li, Oppo Associate Vice President, President of IoT Business, said in a statement.

“Oppo and Qualcomm Technologies have closely collaborated for a long time, creating new possibilities of product innovation together. The Oppo Watch 3 series will be launched in August. As the first smartwatch powered by Snapdragon W5 wearable platform, it will delight our users with better performance,” Li added.

According to Oppo, the next iteration of the smartwatch will be called Oppo Watch 3 and the device will be unveiled in August. It will succeed the Oppo Watch 2 smartwatch that was unveiled in July 2021 in the company’s home turf China.

Notably, Qualcomm has for the first time ditched the Snapdragon Wear branding in our of new names for the chipsets. Both the Snapdragon W5+ and W5 are built on 4nm process which is a giant leap from the previous 12nm processor, which promises big battery gains and higher processing power. According to the San Diego, California-headquartered company, the Snapdragon W5+ promises a 50 per cent longer battery life than the previous-gen Snapdragon Wear 4100+.
